New Moon in Taurus May 6- Embracing Peace

  • by

This New Moon is in the sign of Taurus. The Sun, Venus, Mercury and the asteroid Vesta join the moon there as well. Additionally, this is also the third of three consecutive Super New Moons. In other words, we have a Taurus weather front moving in with extra Taurus on tap.  Astrological overlap like this focuses the area of understanding as it adds an exclamation point to the lesson.

Taurus energy is earthy, grounded and stable and asks us to pay attention to what we really believe and value about ourselves.  Now is the time to get clear on what we stand for and how that defines who we are. If we align with values sourced in fear or defense and try to manage uncertainty through the facade of stuff equating with safety, we will forever feel untethered, unstable and uncertain.  We are meant to ground our roots deeply into the truth of who we are, becoming steadfast and strong in the face of any storm.

Adding to the flavor of this New Moon are five (yes five!) planets in retrograde including Mars, Pluto, and Mercury (read about that here and here). This reminds us healthy values cannot be defined by looking outward, but by looking within.  Likewise, we are not defined by what we do but who we are. Integrity means we are who we are with or without an audience.

Are we in alignment with our own values, or do we borrow examples from others that appear to be successful?

Are we using and expressing our energy in ways that reflect our ego esteem or soul esteem?

Who are we without what we have or do?

Peace is a practice. Taurus is a sign of peace, simplicity and slowing down. Opposite Scorpio, Taurus offers the antidote to Scorpio’s natural chaos, depth, and intensity. It reminds us that claiming peace is often a challenge because we are regularly conditioned and thus familiar with crazy. With turmoil married to normalcy, we often self-sabotage peace recreating drama in an attempt for familiarity. Taurus reminds us that within each of us there is a homing beacon charged with the longing, yearning and deep craving to find, claim and practice peace. Peace is found in the present moment, not the past or future. It is what is left when we let go of story, expectation, perfection, judgment and blame and we melt into acceptance. Peace does not imply the storm is over, just that we find the still eye within it.

How well can you reach stillness, presence, and claim peace without anticipation of the other shoe dropping?

What blocks you from experiencing peace?

This is a great time to simply BE. Getting out in nature, embracing solitude and silence, meditation, practicing mindfulness and mantra are all ways we create the stillness of presence. Clean out your closets both literally and psychologically, releasing what you no longer need and clear space for simplicity. The fact is, truth, authenticity, wholeness and perfection are birthed in simplicity rather than the complexity and confusion of things.

Embrace Peace.  “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”
― Confucius
