North Node to Gemini — Through the Looking Glass

May 5^th we get a shift in energy as the North Node of the Moon moves from Cancer to Gemini for the next 18^th months. Interestingly, the last time we had this nodal axis was just after 9/11 2001, echoing some of the current themes. 

This also means the South Node of the Moon moves from Capricorn to Sagittarius, revealing the updated required correction. Thus, shadow Sagittarian themes will be revealed in the next year and a half and we will have the opportunity to level up with Gemini medicine.

What might all that look like?

~Significant change.

Gemini is the sign most associated with lightning-fast shifts and change. Being nimble and aware of the shifting sands can allow us to explore needed adjustments at this time. How we handle this change is entirely up to us, of course. We can resist the new, ever grasping to the old way, or we can lift off, allowing our feet to drift into what is becoming. To be sure, returning to the “old” way will not bring us anywhere new.

Expect choice points and tension between the old, familiar, long standing, conventional, and traditional ways of doing things, and new systems, technologies, breakthroughs, ideas, and perceptions.

~Facts over dogma.

 Gemini rules facts. Not fake news. Actual facts. Data. Information. Science. Often facts, especially new ones, are not convenient to an ingrained belief system or established sense of control. Likely, what is being revealed isn’t what our habitual selves want to see. Inconvenient truths will arise that challenge the status quo. We cannot change in our comfort zones after all. This new information is a critical necessity right now.

An endlessly open mind, the ability to see many perspectives and possibilities, is a Gemini gift. We are meant to use this time to clean the filter of our own perception. Re-evaluate whatever truths in which we have attached. Whether it is our own limiting beliefs or long-standing cultural traditions, we are asked to assess. No light can get into a closed system. No growth happens without light. Gemini IS that light. Imagination. New information. New ways of doing things. New solutions to old problems. Gemini will require that of us. No amount of spin can argue with the reality of what is.

Expect tension between rigid dogma and the need for new thinking. Collectively, these might be political, religious, environmental, and scientific beliefs. Personally, these might be long-standing stories and spells. Either way we are meant to allow updating with new information that shines new light in a once closed system.

~Uncertainty.

There is no change without uncertainty. Gemini is all about exploring uncharted waters with an optimistic flair. The undetermined can be an amazing place of exploration when we let go of expectations. Expect the unexpected when Gemini is animating. The answers will come on a need to know basis. Patience will be key.

Expect pressure between desires to grasp the past and the surrender that is required to live the needed change. This can look like denial, blame, projection, bypassing, and other ways we might try to control the new that is emerging. We will be required to lift off and glide deep into the uncertainty itself and welcome the grace that is only found in the “I don’t know”.  

How best to navigate this exploration?

Get curious- Curiosity and fear cannot co-exist. What appears on the outside may have roots you cannot see. What looks like an end may, in fact, be a necessary beginning. When we honor “not knowing the answers” we are open to them. Additionally, follow the breadcrumbs of your curiosity. Let it be the guiding light to lead you on a new path of understanding. New interests and opportunities will likely show up. These are the stones leading you to the new. Trust them.

Practice mindfulness- Gemini reminds us our path of destiny unfolds stone by stone often without us knowing the final destination. It embraces the uncertainty of a limitless future but holds steady to the present moment. Focus on the here and now. That is all there ever is.

Speak up- Gemini is about communication. Our voice is a powerful extension of our truth and co-creative power in the world. You will likely have opportunities to speak up. Use your words wisely. Words are powerful forces of defined matter. Not just what we say to others either, but what we say to ourselves. The habitual is found in the stories of old. It is time to write a new one.

Listen- Perhaps, even more important than speaking is our ability to listen. Listen to understand and not defend or reply. Hear through the other person’s truth and how it makes sense to them. This time also reminds us we are getting vital information continuously. Look around you. The answers are everywhere.

As much as we might want to go back we can’t. What we knew no longer exists. Much like Alice in Wonderland we have been led down the rabbit hole of possibility where the old rules no longer need to apply. Where change is infused with the magic, lightness, optimism, and creativity of seeing the world and our role in it differently.
