I’m not sure about how it has been for you, but from my vantage point the last few weeks have been rather intense. Complex. Heavy. There’s a lot of uncovering, revealing, and growing. So, if you feel a bit spent and soul-tired, I see you. It’s a lot to navigate. Astrology certainly validates this current turbulence. We’ve had the eclipses, Jupiter/Uranus conjunction, Mercury retrograde, and all the Aries we can handle. Whew.
Times of complexity are indeed powerful and evolutionary, as well as necessary. There is no escaping the truth bombs and elevated innovation of late. But, sometimes, we need a break from all the traversing and transforming. We need to integrate, settle, and simply be. In truth, life requires the inhale before the exhale. It is time to take some deep breaths.
Astrology understands this ever-present dance between complexity and simplicity, between the doing and the being, between the intricacy and the calm. The former is Scorpio, and the latter is Taurus. With five planets in Taurus, there is some required pause.
Paraphrasing the great astrologer Steven Forrest, “If you had a growth opportunity on Wednesday, maybe you don’t need another on Thursday. Maybe you just need a day at the beach.”
Friends, maybe we all need a day at the beach. We are often filled with a cultural bias to push harder, always get better, and excel in some way. And there is indeed truth to growth and evolution. We can’t do the same things and expect different results after all.
But what if we need to focus as much on the recovery as we do on the hustle? What if we need to honor the silence as much as the noise? The integration as much as the transformation? The presence as much as the purpose?
Maybe we need some time to process all of the complexity, to put some pieces into the puzzle, and to find some solid ground under our feet.
In fact, the Sabian Symbol for this degree is “a new continent rising out of the ocean.” This powerful Taurus image represents the steadfast part of change—the power, patience, and presence necessary for new land to rise out of potential. It is the sturdiness and determination of committed perseverance and the simplicity of grounded persistence.
Because Taurus is the sign most connected to the Earth, emphasizing how nature moves at its own speed and in predictable patterns of change. The Sun rises after night, spring follows the bleakness of winter, the dancing phases of the Moon, and the ebb and flow of tides. Taurus understands the importance of foundations. Like prepping the soil for seeds. The healthier the soil, the healthier the growth. Taurus also holds sacred reverence for the grace that initiates the miracle of sprouting. It is that essential and delicate balance between the humility of what we can do and what we must let be.
Take some time to be. Because Sometimes (often), it is in the quiet when we can really hear. Scorpio seeks the deep truths. Taurus is quiet enough to let them surface. Both are needed.
So, on this New Moon, take some time to rest. To slow down. To pause and reflect. To find some solid ground no matter how turbulent the change and no matter how complicated the time. Take some needed breaths. Visit a mountain or a beach. Touch the Earth. Check the soil that is your life and see if it needs any extra nutrients or water. Feed and nourish in all the ways that are needed. Discern what is not supportive or fostering support. Grasp the simplicity and clarity of grounded values. Find wisdom in the quiet moments.
Because the silence has much to say.
“In Silence there is eloquence. Stop weaving and see how the pattern improves.”
― Rumi
