Not sure about you, but the last few weeks have been rather intense. What does that mean? It means we’ve been asked to look deep at deep patterns, shadow stuff, and any limitations both inner and outer. Reality has a way of getting our attention after all. Thus maybe we’ve had to traverse some hard things. Maybe we’ve had to navigate a loss or major change. Maybe we’ve been wondering why things aren’t working as we’d like them to or why we suddenly feel insecure or unsure. Maybe we’ve been more easily triggered or annoyed, our protector parts wanting to work overtime. Maybe we’ve just been feeling all of it, the heavy energy pollen causing empathic hay fever. Whew.
The good news of course is as shadow stories arise it is not to validate their validity but to offer us an opportunity to write new, updated, more accurate ones. The challenging news is this is often easier said than done. Astrology certainly validates this current turbulence. We’ve had Saturn and Pluto changing signs in March, the eclipses in Aries and Scorpio, and are at the tail end of a rather feisty mercury retrograde. It’s been a lot.
Times of complexity are indeed powerful and evolutionary, as well as necessary. In this world where the only constant is change, we best learn to embrace it. That’s not all though. Sometimes we need a break from all the traversing and digging. We need to integrate, settle, and simply be. In truth, life requires the inhale before the exhale. It is time to take some deep breaths.
Astrology understands this ever present dance between complexity and simplicity, between the doing and the being, between the intricacy and the calm. The former is Scorpio and the latter is Taurus.
Paraphrasing the great astrologer Steven Forrest, “If you had a growth opportunity on Wednesday maybe you don’t need another on Thursday. Maybe you just need a day at the beach.”
Friends, maybe we all need a day at the beach. With a total of seven celestial bodies in Taurus that theme is real.
In fact the Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is, “Two cobblers working at a table”. There is simple elegance in this image. One of integrity, peace, and wisdom found in the candor of everyday work and a job well done. I am reminded of the Zen saying, “Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.” That is Taurus.
We are often filled with a cultural bias to push harder, always get better, and excel in some way. And there is indeed truth to growth and evolution. We can’t do the same things and expect different results after all. But what if we need to focus as much on the recovery as we do on the hustle? What if we need to honor the silence as much as the noise? The integration as much as the transformation? The presence as much as the purpose?
Taurus reminds us there is plenty of wisdom found in the simple, everyday moments of simply being.
So, on this New Moon take some time to rest. To stop. To pause and reflect. To be grateful. Take some needed breaths. Visit a mountain or a beach. Find the ever day awe in the quiet moments. Because the silence has much to say.
“In Silence there is eloquence.
Stop weaving and see how the pattern improves.”
― Rumi
