At its core, an astrology chart is a circular mandala of possibilities, potential, and purpose. Each house represents a significant area of life, each planet a psycho/spiritual force within us, and each sign a way to best express this energy. A circle is a balanced shape, representing the truth that each part is vital to the whole of who we are. Our heart needs the balance of our mind, our inner world needs the balance of the outer, our solitary self needs the balance of companionship, and our spiritual world needs the balance of our earthly one.
Astrology also reminds us there is a time for everything and everything a time. Certain lessons appear in our cosmic weather as they do in our very lives. There is a time for upheaval and a time for peace, a time for surrender and a time to act, a time to take a stand and a time to compromise. It is all part of the whole.
And astrology understands we always have a choice.
Love or fear.
Response or reaction.
Change or habit.
In truth, rebels have a bad rap. After all, by definition rebellion, resistance and disobedience are meant to shake things up. There is nothing unloving or unspiritual in challenging the status quo. In fact, Aquarius reminds us there are times we will be required to take a stand.
This new moon reminds us all, now is the time.
But we also must remember to source this defiance in love, not fear.
And love doesn’t always imply squishy, soft, peaceful, and campfire singing kumbaya oneness. Love is often a fierce and fiery force of truth carving out needed sacred space. This kind of love is sourced in authenticity, freedom and the never-ending push for the highest ideals. It isn’t about being “nice.” It’s about being genuine. Love does not stand idly by and allow injustice. Love is aligned with truth. The kind of truth that is universal and bigger that our personal egos. We all know the difference between universal right and wrong. The kind of right that goes beyond politics and agendas and into expanded truth, where we hold a future vision of the world ahead.
It is time to fight for what is right.
Aquarius energy reminds us if we can all just be authentic with each other and our world, and if we can honor the authenticity in each other, without the subterfuge and facade of insecurity, we all become one in our truth. Because real change requires we do something different and NOT apply old solutions to new problems. The dismantling of change is meant for us to put it back together with a new consciousness directed by love not fear, trust not control, and giving not greed. It is fear, judgment, the need to be right, control or dominate that causes division. When we rebel out of fear we embark on the road to doubt, authoritarianism, control, limitation and selective truth.

January 21, brought one of the largest protests in US history. The worldwide Women’s March exemplifies this current cycle of the old clashing with new. This cycle isn’t going to end anytime soon (Uranus and Pluto square). Yet, like the friction and heat needed for a seed to break through the topsoil and sprout new life, growth, evolution and freedom often need resistance to rise against.
So this new moon, it is time to set a new cycle of owning your uniqueness. Summon your inner rebel. Connect with where freedom resides in your life and likewise, locate all the places you quench its fire. Ask yourself where fear of rejection holds you back from honest expression of your truth. Find the shoulds and bury them.
This New Moon in Aquarius reminds us our path is likely a path no one has yet walked. It is a path unique and right for us, and it does not have to make sense to anyone else. Aquarius is the rebel, the maverick, and the genius within us. It is the spark of inspiration born from out of the box thinking. It is the freedom that comes when we align with our most inspired selves. It is not just about being real but embarking on the quest to find real in our lives.
