Welcome to the eclipses.
Why do eclipses get extra emphasis? Because eclipses don’t just forecast specific points of change but the entire process. Unlike New and Full Moon cycles that offer more immediate insight, eclipses provide a year’s worth of cosmic weather. Why? Because eclipses stand with the Nodes of the Moon, highlighting significant yearlong trends we have been living. In general, eclipses are seen as symbolic reboots and restarts of the system. Look where this New Moon is shining in your chart to better understand your specific reset. In general, though, eclipses offer the power pivots and choice points that are meant to can grow us.
This New Moon Solar Eclipse is in the sign of Scorpio, meaning this is a South Node eclipse. The South Node denotes what needs fixing, where we got it wrong, and what needs to be repaired. The South Node can also reveal the consequences of our actions and choices. These often appear suddenly as real-life events, otherwise known as ‘opportunities for correction’. So be on the lookout for those.
Additionally, Venus joins the party conjunct the Sun and Moon offering its own distinction. Venus represents our parts personally and collectivity that seek connection, love, harmony, and the very values that define us. Standing with this New Moon means those forces require a reset as well.
If asked, many of us would say our values are centered in humble places- things like integrity, service, kindness, altruism, joy, and love. What we say and do, though, are often not in alignment. Thus, if we really want to locate what we value, whether personally or collectively, we must look at the choices we make, the principles we stand for, the actions we take, the decisions we make, the people we choose to align with, and even the words we use. We don’t have to go far to see some glaring hypocrisy. We cannot value community if we are creating division. We cannot value love if we defend hate. We cannot value freedom or equality if it is selective or selfish.
Inner and outer, these are hard revelations. They are meant to be. Scorpio times demand it. We can’t fix what we can’t fully acknowledge. The ability to be radically accountable and rethink what we think we know is the highest of aspirations.
The good news for Scorpio times is that incredible (like mind-blowing) transformation is possible. The challenging news? It’s going to require some hard questions, choices, accountability, and power pivots. It will likely require a journey through the shadows of our underworlds, both collective and personal. It also must be noted that we often do not choose Scorpio learning. It chooses us. We are initiated. Pulled into the depths. Offered a shadow layer to reclaim lost parts of the self. The magician, the shaman, the transformer, Scorpio is about power and the RIGHT use of it.
It is fitting the Sabian symbol for this eclipse is “A House raising“. This inspiring image denotes how a community joins for a common cause and reminds us of our need to cooperate rather than separate. To understand rather than disregard. To redeem rather than demean.
Yet we must remember an important point. Communities can work together to build or destroy. Because, by definition, a community is a fellowship with shared attitudes, interests, goals, and values. Great power is derived from groups with shared agendas. This power can be used to inspire as quickly as it can exploit. Thus, the community’s health does not depend on the community itself or the number of people in it, but on the health of the values it professes. This is why integrity in leadership is so important. It creates the whole trajectory and foundation of the community itself.
This eclipse reminds us of that.
So, take this time to do some shadow walking in your own value system. Are your words in alignment with your actions? Take this time to look at the groups and communities with which you align. Are the words, actions, and ideas of the community, especially those in leadership, in alignment with the values of humility, service, love, and integrity? Is there any hate, hypocrisy, grift, or alternative agendas? Remember, Scorpio times reveal not what we want to see but what we need to see.
The promise is immense potential. The challenge is hard work will be required. And if you are anything like me right now, you are burned out, soul tired, and weary. So let us remember that Scorpio also holds the promise of the phoenix rising from the ashes stronger, wiser, and more resilient. There is no sign with more emotional strength, perseverance, and grit. We have that too.
So get really real. Question what you stand for. Ask yourself hard questions regarding what you say and what you actually practice. Reassess any groups you align with. Dig into places you may want to hide. Because that is where the answers of this time are found.
“Now is not the time for a fanciful dip into our shadow because it is sexy or fashionable. It is essential, now more than ever, to bravely gaze into the darkest chambers of our hearts. It is only with an honest appraisal of the seat of our souls that we can mend ourselves individually and collectively.”
