Much like current life, the present astrology is complicated.
What is happening exactly? For those that want to skip the astrobabble, ignore this part and catch up at the next:
- This is a Full Moon in Capricorn, meaning the Sun opposes the Moon in the sign of Cancer. The Part of Fortune conjuncts the Moon, and Venus conjuncts the Sun, adding to the power of the opposition.
- Neptune, at the tail end of Pisces, is squaring the Full Moon axis, creating a T-square, with the “empty” leg in Virgo.
- The Summer Equinox happens a day before the Full Moon, resonating its importance.
- This Full Moon is the first of two consecutive Full Moons in the sign of Capricorn, focusing our gaze on Capricorn themes.
What does that all mean? We are living history. You certainly don’t need an astrologer to tell you that, though. All you need to do is pay attention. The tides of innovation and change are creating shock waves of tension. And this pace will not slow down any time soon. The second half of the year looks dynamic indeed.
Astrology maps the current cycles and offers the most optimum way through. It highlights the energetic weather and the tools required. A current theme is navigating tribal toxicity and polarity. In times of increasing tension, we often want a simple, black-and-white answer. That is not helpful here. Most of the challenges we are navigating are complex and complicated. Though there are answers to be found, solutions are only found in the complexity, not the simplicity of the real. Check out my last blog for more on that.
Capricorn offers essential insight into this theme as well.
When channeled through our best selves, Capricorn represents our inner resiliency and emotional regulation. This is a muscle many of us have needed to flex of late. It is the part of us that survives. Deals. Perseveres. Capricorn sacrifices as needed and stands for the highest of ideals. It is radical self-awareness and the use of positive coping skills. Capricorn reminds us to pause and reflect before we act, choosing a response, not a reaction. It reminds us of the need for reason and logic to set grounded and healthy boundaries and navigate treacherous terrain. Capricorn is the inherent grit and grace that endures and persists, even when the conditions are challenging.
Of course, like all things, we don’t always get it right. When sourced through wounded esteem systems, this same enlightened determination can look more like micromanaging, control, avarice, selfish stubbornness, and the polarity of inflexible obstinance. It can also look like exhaustion, burnout, soul weariness, and overall over-extension. Survival strategies are meant to be temporary chemistry, after all.
Both are possible. So, apply soul screen as needed. These are trying times. We are all pushing our systems extra hard to keep the resiliency of hope, kindness, and cooperation alive.
In fact, the Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is “the ocean covered in whitecaps.” This is an apt metaphor. Regardless of the storm at the surface of the ocean, at greater depths, there is always calm. While the only constant may be the white caps of change, we can choose how we navigate the turbulent sea.
This Full Moon is our celestial reminder to capture the sturdiness within the storm. We may need to go deep within ourselves, our communities and even society itself to find the calm resiliency of our authenticity rather than the shallows of our reactive parts. We will likely need to pause, slow down, and observe (all Capricorn forces) before choosing a reasonable action. We will likely need to employ the graces of emotional intelligence and reason to communicate and solve problems.
Because Capricorn is the balance between the heart (empathy) and the head (reason). This is why Capricorn is so associated with leadership and mastery. Good leaders have their feet on the ground, their pulse in reality, and their hearts filled with integrity.
Some Capricorn tips to stay sturdy during trying times:
- Create a Support System: Cultivate relationships with friends, family, or support groups who can provide encouragement and perspective. Seek professional help if needed.
- Practice Self-Care: Prioritize activities that nurture your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Manage news and social media consumption wisely. Set boundaries as needed to protect your time and energy from draining activities and individuals. Consistency is key here.
- Practice Mindfulness: Engage in mindfulness exercises to stay present and reduce anxiety about the future or regret about the past.
- Maintain Hope: This doesn’t mean evoking the toxic positivity of bypassing behavior but the ability to see the graces within the grit. Focus on potential opportunities in challenging situations.
- Set Realistic Soul Goals: Break down challenges into manageable steps to maintain a sense of accomplishment and progress. Make sure your goals are set from self-led places within. These are the inner forces that don’t need goals to get to enough but use goals as a way to express their enoughness.
- Be Discerning: Inner and outer, use critical thinking skills to assess experts and truths.
- Allow Flexibility and Embrace Change: Be willing to adjust plans as needed and be open to new circumstances and experiences.
- Focus on what you can control: Take action when warranted and accept and let go of things that are beyond your control.
As we stand under the Full Moon, let’s embrace Capricorn’s wisdom, balancing empathy with reason, grounding ourselves in reality, and leading with integrity. By delving deep and anchoring ourselves in our authentic core, we can navigate the surface winds by grounding into the depths of resilience and grace. This is our celestial cue to pause, reflect, and act thoughtfully, embodying the true essence of steadfast sturdiness.
