Aquarius New Moon 2/4— The Rise of Lilith

  • by

There is a fascinating truth regarding our intentions. We do not get what we ask for; we get opportunities to claim it.

We ask for forgiveness, and suddenly we are surrounded by conflict.
We ask for peace, and out pops some chaos.
We ask for abundance, and lack begins to challenge us.
We ask to find our purpose, and we are faced with limitation.
We ask for healing, and we get something to heal.
We ask for freedom, and suddenly we are faced with the threat of oppression.

This New Moon places both the Sun and the Moon in Aquarius. The sign of the rebel.

And like all archetypes there exists a high and low destiny.
A shadow and light.

Due to the placement of the South Node in Aquarius the last year, we have been trudging through the shadowy aspects of this energy. The eclipses last year and into 2019, have asked us to do some Aquarium excavating and uncovering.

But I don’t need to tell you that.
You’ve been living it.

The mud has been stirred, the ground split, security challenged. All of it though has brought us to a mirror where we can see more fully the depth of who we are. Our shadow of course, merely represents parts of us we have not yet met.

You have likely made their acquaintance.

All of it has not been meant to make you miserable. It has been meant to set you free.

This New Moon (without South Node connection and Eclipse energy finally!) asks you to now apply what you have discovered. New Moons are points of conception. Beginnings. They welcome expression of the emerging whole self, the phoenix that is perhaps unsteadily rising, the hero walking out of the cave.

Who are you now?

Who are you now without the old stories, beliefs, spells, and fears holding you back?

Enter Lilith.
She stands with this New Moon, making her presence known.

Astrology uses the main planets. Yet, via its evolution, which has mirrored our own conscious growth, it has also added asteroids, fixed starts, important celestial points, and the like to create dimensions of learning, and nuances of understanding.

Lilith, always keeping it interesting, is both an asteroid as well as a point on the ecliptic called the Black Moon Lilith, and she is conjunct the Sun and Moon in Aquarius. (Lilith and True Black Moon Lilith is @ 20° and the Sun and Moon @ 15°). Messenger of the gods himself, Mercury (@19°), dances between them.

The story of Lilith is a deep a feisty one, and relevant to her meaning in astrology.

According to myth, Lilith was the original Eve created like Adam from the Earth itself. She, being equal, would not submit to Adam’s dominance. When she was forced, she rebelled and left the garden. Adam, being lonely, was then given a woman created from his own rib and thereby inherently subservient. The story continues with Lilith scorned and full of rage, traipsing through the countryside seeking revenge via spreading destruction throughout the land, murdering babies, having demonic relations, and basically doing all sorts of evil.

Like all of astrology, there is a shadow and a light to each archetype, and in all myth, a lesson.

Lilith in its highest expression represents the true divine feminine genius weaving a balanced force of creation. She is the right brain, creative, emotive, freedom loving, passionate, unapologetically authentic, angry, most spirited, and always unpredictable Lilith. Her placement in a chart represents where we need to express this force most profoundly in our lives.

Of course, her story also reveals the shadow echoing the epitome of long-standing cultural projections that perceive this “feminine” force as dangerous, unpredictable, less than, hysterical, thus requiring “oppression” or control to keep tame. Her dance with Adam epitomizes the historical war between masculine and feminine energy ( in both our inner and outer worlds), the struggle for equality, as well as the need to demonize or diminish what is feared and misunderstood.

Additionally, we see her shadow in her violent indignation. “Hell has no fury like a woman scorned”. What can create can also destroy. Vengeance. Revenge. Hate. Blame. Gossip. Violence. Wrath. That is Lilith too. And she is in us. Both sides of the rebel archetype.

No doubt, we see this collective tension as the feminine genius begins to rise to recalibrate a long-standing misalignment. This is not to vilify masculinity of course. There is a shadow and a genius of that force too. We need the linear and the mystical, the logical and the somatic, the rational and the irrational, the predictable and the unpredictable, the science (Newton) and the sacred (Quantum).

This New Moon with Lilith leading the charge though tips the balance to focus more on the feminine genius. To embrace more Kairos, God’s time and less Kronos, man’s measurable time. More vision, less thought. More instinct, less planning. More creation, less order. More risk, less structure. More change, less certainty. More empathy, less detachment. More service, less selfish.

This New Moon we allow a new vision to take the place of old habits. Freedom replaces limitation. Freedom from story. Freedom from habit. Freedom from acquiescence. Because when we have danced with the depths of our darkest layers (and if you are doing it right you have been) we come out the other side wiser, more courageous, and more etched with a need to LIVE more fully. Lilith in Aquarius whispers the meaning of life is to live it as fully authentically as you can. To take risks. To BE the most sovereign expression of the self- regardless of what others might say. To be weird and proud of it.

After all, when you have faced the darkness, what have you got to lose?
What would you do if you were not afraid?
Who would you be if you released the need to impress others, if you let go of the “shoulds”, if you genuinely stopped basing your life on outside expectations?

That is the you that is asking for expression. That is the vision of your purpose.

And Aquarius is the sign of vision. The genius that sees an invention without the limitation of habitual thinking. A future sight sourced by aligning with our real purpose. A vision rooted in our highest self, not the self that sits in safety, security, outside expectation, and limitation. The self that allows a clear channel of service through the heart and serves the larger good. The one connected to love, justice, connection, and all of humanity. This type of vision we are gifted at unexpected moments. Inspiration. Epiphones, book ideas, truths, and flashes of insight that drop in. Those are important. Because they are the breadcrumbs on the path of living our authenticity.

So be on the lookout.

If you are a bit scared to wear this new you…good.
If you are raising the eyebrows, of those that do not understand…better still.
If you run full steam into some conformity… take that as validation you are doing it right.
If you are told you are “too” something …nod and agree you are a force of passion ignited.

Those rules don’t apply to you anyway. In fact, they never did.

“Listen to the MUSTN’TS, child,
Listen to the DON’TS
Listen to the SHOULDN’TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WONT’S
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me-
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be”
