New Moon Solar Eclipse March: 8-9

New Moons are always important energy patterns, and this New Moon is especially important. Why?new moon

This New Moon is important because it has lots of added astrological “juice” (aka potential). Let me break it down.

New Moons are about endings and beginnings and the start of a new cycle. It is a great time to set intentions for the future.

It is also a Super New Moon. This means the moon is close to the earth, magnifying the energy. It is like a cosmic explanation point telling us, “Hey, pay attention. This is important!”

Solar Eclipses happen when the moon travels in front of the sun, obscuring all light. (Unfortunately, for most of us, we won’t be able to see it, but if you happen to be in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Borneo or the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you’re in luck).

Symbolically, this represents an opportunity to look squarely at our own shadow; to see what is often unseen and to make the unconscious more conscious. It is a bit of an energetic reboot. Easier said than done, though.

This energy is concentrated in the sign of Pisces. Along with the moon and sun in Pisces, we also have Chiron, Ceres, Neptune Mercury, S. node of the Moon and Venus joining the party, adding even more Piscean threads to the tapestry.Yet, another layer to this, we have all of that Pisces energy in direct opposition to Jupiter (at its retrograde mid-point no less) in Virgo conjunct the S. node of the Moon.

In other words…there’s a lot going on. So, if you are feeling a bit emotional, confused, disillusioned, helpless or wide open, and/ or  life has handed you a few “get real moments” or challenging circumstances fraught with uncertainty, you are right on track. The point of astrology is not to reveal the storm and then brush itself off and walk away with a trite, “good luck with that”. Astrology is about helping you better articulate your inner fluctuations, as well as offer possibilities of potential to harness change and transformation in your own life.

Just how this cycle shows up for you is based on the placement in your chart. (Want to know the specifics Contact Me). Yet all of us are being asked to get up close and personal with Pisces energy in our lives. Thus, it is a perfect time to clean out our Piscean closets and set some Piscean intentions.

What does that mean? Pisces rules the force of intuition, spirituality and a more expansive understanding and vision of the world. There is an unseen world of energy and mystery science is just beginning to tap into, but has proven is there. To Piscean senses, this world is as real as the one of form. Thus, the forces ignited within you are not going to be effectively answered by logic. The rational mind and reason are not the players here and likely won’t give you the answers you seek in this current cycle. You’re plugged into the energy of intuitive understanding, visioning, deep compassion and feeling.  The veil is thin.

So, what to do with all this energy?

Follow your heart, not your head
What brings you to a space of quiet where the voice of the ego is silenced and the voice of intuition is enhanced?

**Dream work, card pulling, nature, automatic writing, church, mantra, ACDC or your yoga mat; do whatever brings you to stillness, to that place of pause where your mind-knowing ceases and soul-knowing emerges.

**When there, ask those deep questions and be ready for the truth. Then set intentions based on those answers. (For more on connecting to intuition, see the Intuition Series podcast.)

Shadow work
Remember this is an eclipse, so shadow qualities want to come to light. As Joseph Campbell has so eloquently put it, “ The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”. We need not be afraid of our darkness, because it is there we find the buried treasure of our long lost selves.

**If you want to take a shadow walk take a good look at your life, because what is showing up is a direct reflection of deeper, often subconscious, beliefs (shadow). Lack, dis-ease, struggle, boredom, addiction and unhealthy relationship patterns etc. are all examples of deeper beliefs that require excavation and undoing.

**Our shadow often reveals itself in how we blame or judge others (see the Podcast Projection and Integration).

**Additionally, we want to assess our relationship with giving and receiving, control and uncertainty, discipline and self-sabotage and accountability and blame.
o How do you manage uncertainly or insecurity in your life? (Ie: control, perfection, procrastination, addiction, scapegoating?)
o What is blocking you from your most authentic potential? (Ie: fear, inner critic, old stories, shame?)

Release and set intentions
This dance is one of realizing your highest potential. This cycle is a great time to focus on the big picture, allowing your dreams to overshadow any latent shadow fear or belief, setting an intention of your highest calling. After all, you have to have a dream before you have a dream come true. This is a time to set soul intentions, not ego intentions (more on that here). Once you have the destination in your sights, what must you let go of to move forward?

**Write what you are ready to release and burn it, cry, dance, shake your fist at the heavens, baptize yourself in the ocean, do what you need to do to embody letting go of the old and trusting the uncertainty of the new.

**This is a time to release. A space to release, once and for all what is no longer serving you to create space for something that is. Habits, beliefs, relationships, Facebook friends, fear -it is time to LET. IT. GO.
